Backups
A backup only counts once it has been restored and checked. Each one is encrypted with the firm's own key, then restored into a scratch copy where the trust records, the audit log and the firm's structure are checked before it is marked good.
Every night
The whole firm database, kept 35 days. Restored and checked every time.
Every month-end
Kept seven years, the same as the trust records themselves.
Kept apart
Stored away from the database server, with the audit log's head recorded outside the firm's database.
